Our Services and
Product offerings
We have been used to a world defined by established rules and systems; and by a predictable and stable economic and political order. Leaders are used to assessing opportunities and risks on this basis, and to running businesses and governments accordingly. These conditions no longer apply.
Earendel’s associates have decades of expertise and understanding in competitors’ political systems, including their motivations and their decision-taking processes; and in the tools they use to challenge others’ wellbeing and economic interests, and to win advantage over businesses. It is these factors, and the relationships between different competitor powers, that now drive ‘geopolitical risk’.
It is no longer enough to rely on the rules-based system, or on the mitigation of known operational risks. Rather it is necessary to understand the overall intent and methods of our competitors and their tools, and to shape deployments and partnerships accordingly.
These are not issues in which it is possible to become expert overnight, or even in a short period. The Earendel team uniquely has been focussed on them for years, and we will draw on this genuine understanding in advising clients on how to advance and protect their interests.
Earendel’s mission is to support companies in understanding their environment, and identifying and managing risks and opportunities arising from systemic challenges to the law-based trade and political order. Earendel is uniquely placed to do this: the company’s network across the world has spent decades understanding of the ‘hybrid’ tools deployed by the challenger state and sub-state players, and their impact; it has exceptional expertise in relevant countries and political systems, including Russia and China, as well as in the politics of the US; and collectively the group has decades of collaborating across geographies in tracking this subject.
Earendel was created in 2022 and built around an established network of expertise and shared understanding. The leadership team draws on deep experience in international defence, security, academic and corporate fields. Our product has been proven over time and is regularly endorsed at the most senior levels in western governments.
Examples of support provided include:
Assessments of theatres of conflict (e.g. Ukraine, Gaza, Space) and sources of challenge (Russia, China, radical Islam), combining deep knowledge of the individual subject matters and the collective understanding of how actors and theatres interact;
Bespoke advice to leaders, on a personal and discreet basis, on risks arising from their dependencies on challenger states, built up by companies over years and often core to profits;
Specialist advice in support of legal casework, in particular where the modus operandi of hostile and other states is at issue;
Geopolitical due diligence reports, where the risk associated with partners or transactions may extend to hidden State involvement, or to future problems arising from geopolitical developments (such as sanctions).
Earendel groups its services in two discrete divisions:
Geopolitical reporting, drawing on Associates and external specialists. These not only inform specific theatres but illuminate over time how these inter-relate; and how the major geopolitical players seek to disrupt western interests (corporate as well as state) in third countries – and even in their home markets. Earendel explains developments in the news, and illuminates the forces behind them. ‘Others will tell you what is happening. Earendel will tell you why it is happening and what that means for you’;
Bespoke Advisory, providing advice and reporting to specific requirements. This draws on internal capabilities, but also on close partnerships with experts who bring specialist knowledge, tools and thought leadership, and who value the opportunity to be part of such strategic engagements.
